Help make life better for our whole family
Due to medical reasons our family chose to abandon our plans of gettingl and in which to build upon and have agreed to continue making themortgage payments on the place I live now to have the home turned overto me and my children when it's paid.
The existing mobile home as well as additional structure used as livingspace needs interior repair mostly of floors, we need a new roof boardand shingles for the mobile home, a hallway needs to be widened forwalker/wheelchair/scooter access and doors need to be widened. We needan actual driveway prepared. We need to install fencing in order to use the entire land plot for gardening and kennel.
Everything we do is DIY. We cannot afford to hire anyone. We have replaced some of the flooring already. Repaired the roof in the additional living space, repaired much of the plumbing issues thatoriginally caused the floor damage and have had some breakers replaced to fix our electrical system. We were halted from repairs when neighbors complained of our accumulation of "junk" which was salvage lumber and salvaged building supplies and salvaged lawnmowers to use as parts to keep a mower working since lawn care is mandatory even on private property. There is a code that does prevent us from collecting these supplies which is annoying since reduce/reuse/recycle is proved to be best for our planet.
A wheelchair/scooter ramp has been installed thanks to the good people of Dixie Thunder of Aiken County. A motorcycle rights organization I support. I hold the position of Internet Coordinator there.

Unfortunately the much needed ramp that helps not only a wheelchair user but animals with limb or sight impairments to get in/out of buildings took up much of the kennel space. We have a good size yard, but to use the whole yard a new kennel must be built to enclose the entire property. For county codes this kennel must also be a feline containment system and must not be of a design that lowers property values of area residents...meaning since three sides would be visible from the street and along easements with neighbors it must be attractive as well as functional. The most inexpensive is a stockade type fence at least 8 feet high. We could do this with salvaged lumber and piece up a property fence and we would be satisfied, but unfortunately that doesn't satisfy county codes so we have to actually shop at a lumber store for our needs and that goes far beyond our budget, the positive side to a property fence and kennel is that we could legally salvage used lumber and building supplies and tackle some of our own home repairs for free. At the time we can't do this since storing old lumber and building supplies without a privacy fence puts us in violation of nuisance codes.
It's not really our own needs we can't take care of, the problem
is that everything we can do on our own puts us in violation of
some kind of nuisance code which forces us to depend on money
rather than recycling and reusing.
